Injection Lines for Diesel Engines - CRG

Seamless precision steel tubes for advanced internal pressure fatigue resistance

Expectations tend to become more and more challenging in the automotive sector. Especially in the field of Diesel powered engines technical requirements tighten continuously. Amongst others, this holds true with regard to motor acoustics, engine smoothness as well as efficiency. At the same time, in many countries in the world legislative and state authorities firmly pursue the idea of sustainable utilization of carbon reserves, thus, claiming more stringent environmental laws. Both, technical requirements as well as legislative constraints are strongly linked to higher injection pressures. Today’s market predictions project injection pressures rising up to more than 2500 bar for cars while these might go beyond 3000 bar in the case of heavy-duty vehicles.

At the same time, cheaper but not less challenging solutions are needed in order to feed growing markets in the Western and the Eastern hemisphere and the BRIC-Countries with quantities far beyond what is known today. In this context, injection lines play a crucial role because these are in charge to reliably and safely supply the required amount of fuel throughout millions of pressure cycles without any indication of an integrity loss.

Salzgitter Mannesmann Precision GmbH offers a large precision tube portfolio intended for Diesel injection lines comprising high end and economic solutions. Just recently, the product portfolio was complemented with the new Common Rail Grade (‘CRG’) series. The CRG series was intensively tested and accredited in the Salzgitter Diesel tube test laboratory. The CRG series offers excellent steel and surface qualities engineered for advanced fatigue resistances based upon special micro alloying concepts. In combination with adequate autofrettage processes extreme system pressures may be realized. Please talk to us for any more information you might need!
