Europe's most modern multi-blanking line to be built in Schwerte

Salzgitter AG is investing just under 6.0 million euros to install Europe's most modern multi-blanking line at the Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlservice GmbH site in Schwerte, North Rhine-Westphalia.
With this investment, the Salzgitter Group is very clearly committing itself to the site in Schwerte and expanding it into a competence center for thin sheet blanks. With multi-blanking line 7, SMS already has a highly specialized unit to manufacture external paneling for the household appliance industry and body parts for the automotive industry.

Installation of the new line means starting in the second quarter of 2019, SMS will be able to implement multiple cuts from large coil widths of up to 2,100 mm, in addition to individual cutting geometries (curves, omega/trapezoid cuts). The line will consequently make it possible to process both aluminum and steel coils in thicknesses from 0.35 mm to 3.00 mm.

Ulrich Becker (head of strategic business field development) is sure that "the new multi-blanking line offers us the greatest possible flexibility in order to serve the growing customer requirements with respect to quality and special dimensions."
